The best train ride ever

A really good day out is a trip to St Ives on the train.

Take the train because parking in St Ives is a nightmare, the train is relatively inexpensive (under £5) and cheaper than parking and plus the scenes of the beaches from the train are amazing. It's a great thing to do with kids, but seriously anyone would enjoy it. The trains are Dog friendly.

Best to book your train tickets online with train line and get e tickets or you can buy a physical ticket at the changeover station.

Drive for 30 minutes from Trevella to Hayle train station, park there for free in the station car park.

You have to get off the train at st Erth, walk over the bridge and take the train to St Ives (very small station so easy to find). You can buy a physical return ticket here if needed.

Its this second train where you get the lovely views. Try and sit by a window on the right hand side of the train as it goes along Carbis Bay beach and into st Ives along the coastal path.

Try to do a sunny day to get the best views. I went with my friend Karen and her dog Louie who were visiting Cornwall. It was Louie's first time on a train ever.
